Astronomical Opportunities

Moderate sized telescopes have an essential role in modern astronomy. They are appropriate for projects requiring vast hours of observing time, sustained observations over long time periods, or coordinated observations by multiple sites. In addition, they play an important role in astronomy education, including supporting authentic student research and providing telescope access for astronomy faculty in small programs or primarily undergraduate institutions. The GWPO facility will tackle this role with advanced technology and address the current frontiers of astronomical research. The facility will consist of an approximately 1-meter telescope, remotely operated, and instrumented with cutting-edge camera and spectroscopic capabilities.
