Textbook
The Cosmic Perspective 6th Edition, ISBN-13: 978-0-3-2162090-3
- This is not the same as The Essential Cosmic Perspective by the same authors, which other ASTR 100 sections may require.
- The class makes use of an online homework site for this book, which comes with a new 6th edition book.
- When buying a used book, you will need to purchase the online homework component separately (~$50). So you should make sure you are saving at least $50 by purchasing used versus new.
- To help keep student textbook costs down, I have certified the following earlier editions as suitable substitutions for the course textbook:
- Edition: 5th Media Update ISBN-13: 978-0321551382
- Edition: 5th ISBN-13: 978-0321506184
- Edition: 4th ISBN-13: 978-0805366471
- Only one Cosmic Perspective text is needed, these alternates do not
indicate additional text requirements.
- Wait until the first day of class for instructions on purchasing or setting up online homework access.
