Short Assignment #4
A Contemporary Cosmologist
due Wednesday, May 14

Write a short paper (1-2 pages) about the life and work of a person who has contributed significantly to cosmological research since 1945. (Note that this excludes such people as Einstein, Hubble, and Lemaître, who lived beyond that year, but whose contributions were made before World War II.)

I would like each student to choose a different cosmologist, so contact me, via e-mail, office hours, or after class, as soon as you have picked someone, and I will record your choice or inform you that someone has already picked that person.

Cosmologists already chosen

Ralph Alpher
Charles L. Bennett

Some useful references
Note that two of the books on reserve for this course are collections of interviews with cosmologists or essays by cosmologists. There are also several cosmologists among the Bruce medalists.
